About Me

Hi, I’m Fadila.

I’m a writer and researcher, connector of dots and synthesiser of information, aspiring author and midlifestyle mentor, and the woman in midlife who is behind everything you see here, which is the catalyst for Midlifestyle School.

Over the past 30+ years, I’ve been on a lifelong journey of personal development encompassing the following:

  • writing
  • health & fitness
  • face yoga
  • mindset, productivity, goalsetting & habits
  • entrepreneurship
  • property development & investment
  • candlestick forex & share trading
  • app development
  • website design/creation
  • SEO
  • Facebook ads
  • business coaching
  • podcasting
  • spirituality

.

Basically, I’m someone with an abundance of curiosity, a long-life learner — a student for life (and a very proud multipotentialite with APD, ADHD and visual dyslexia).

My writing skills have afforded others with livelihood opportunities such as 30-page written submissions for government-body licences granted to operate domestic building & real estate businesses, pitch decks for startups to create partnerships, and blogs to attract consistent clients/buyers.

I’ve been successful in many aspects of my life, and whilst always interested in health and fitness, I did struggle with my weight for decades, never realising there was a deeper underlying issue at its core — emotional eating.

The thing is, not only did it dictate my whole life, but I had no idea such a thing existed — and I pretty much blamed my lack of willpower and discipline. But if you scroll back up to the top, you’ll see I’m a fairly curious human who’s always exploring and taking action and achieving everything she decides she wants.

So, saying I lacked the willpower and discipline to lose weight, just didn’t make sense. But how else was I to justify it? Anyway, I digress…

Then, in February 2023, just six days before my 50th birthday, I was confronted with a life-threatening health scare, turning my life upside down.

I was forced to finally “prioritise” my weight loss before family and business.

I literally had to put everything and everyone else on hold in my quest to discover and research the best science-backed strategies to achieve my health and fitness goals for a woman in midlife and in menopause. (Sidenote — even my writing skills follow a science-based philosophy framework which has been the catalyst for my work affording others with livelihood opportunities.)

I’d like to preface this by saying that I’m not a doctor, a licensed nutritionist or therapist. This website is based on my personal experience with achieving a 34kg weight loss goal over 8 months after decades of confusion and misguided information. Everything you read here comes from the research and insights I’ve picked up over the years while exploring the best diets through various books by fitness and health experts. My essays synthesise all my learnings and are intended for informational purposes. Therefore, please consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new diet or exercise program.

In saying all of that, I’m on a mission to help women in midlife improve their lives and mindset, enabling them to create and embrace a Midlifestyle Fit for Purpose™ — a term I coined out of frustration in trying to express my commitment to supporting other women facing the same struggles I experienced.

What can you expect to read and learn?

Right now, my focus is on helping you understand why you’ve struggled with emotional eating your whole life, and why it was never your fault for not being able to lose it and keep it off.

But with midlife comes transitions. And boy oh boy, they’re not easy. For example, one transition could be that you’re about to become an “empty-nester” and you feel lost. Well, I want to share this type of content eventually.

Or, perhaps you have a skill that you’d love to turn into a business. Well, I want to share this type of content eventually.

But until you are in control of your eating which will help you lose weight naturally, that’s when you’ll truly start to “feel” better about yourself and life.

When you’re feeling this way, you’re ready to confront other challenges in a more confident and grounded way, or going after that business idea you never thought possible.

Because there’s just something about losing weight and the way it impacts how we respond to the challenges or transitions we are faced with making in midlife.

It’s the beginning.

It drives momentum.

It inspires action.

It changes your life.

And guess what?

You’re no longer feeling useless or irrelevant and you realise that life in your second half has a different feel, meaning, and cadence — and you’re finally the boss of your own body and life.

Can you imagine that?!

But, of course, only you can decide if you want it.

Which is why I want Midlifestyle School to become more than just a place for learning about how to lose weight.

Because I know that having purpose is what enables us to change our identity after decades of lifelong ingrained habits that do not and no longer serve us.

So watch this space!

Why am I telling you all this?

Because I know how hard it is to find information you can trust.

And when you don’t know what you don’t know, it makes it super hard to filter through a tonne of websites, articles, books and videos to be able to figure out which ones are truly accurate, factual, and evidence-based, and which are built around myths, lies and scaremongering. Further, with the plethora of social media influencers, it’s even harder to know who to believe and not believe.

Transparency and honesty have always guided me — and this is why I’m sharing this page with you.

Right now, I am in the throes of learning Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Life Coaching. I also have access to a tonne of books written by experts which have helped me formulate my opinions and my own strategies that helped me lose my significant weight.

Not only that, but I figured out how to reprogram my emotional eating behaviour which was the catalyst for my weight struggles over the decades. Again, I’d like to preface this by saying if you have experienced trauma that you know only healthcare professionals can help with, please consult them.

So, I hope my efforts in being transparent is obvious as to who I am, and who I definitely am not.

I’m at a magnificent stage of midlife with my three daughters (now all adults creating and living  their best lives), giving me (and my husband) free reign on my second half of life allowing me to design and embody my midlifestyle fit for purpose — on my terms!

Midlifestyle School has become my life’s purpose to lead by example and inspire other women to realise “you’re not too old, and it’s not too late”.

Hand on heart, I truly care about you and I want you to live your second half of life better than ever before. I feel our first half was devoted to putting others first. Isn’t it fair to say it’s now our turn to focus the same level of devotion to ourselves?

I have so much conviction and belief in you, to be able to do this, to turn your life around so you can absolutely enjoy your second half, to be strong, fit and healthy — and independent to your last breath.

This is why I’m here, doing what I’m doing.

I’m a visionary with a big heart and a huge mission. If you’ll let me, let’s make peace with our past and design a second half of life worth living for!

Oh, and one last thing.

You can and you will. If I have anything to do with it.
